Paula Diane Warren

8/8/1967-7/6/1985

On July 6, 1985 the body of a woman was found in a field in Killeen, TX.

17 year old Paula Diane Warren, whose partially nude body was discovered July 6, 1985, in a field in the 1000 block of East Veteran’s Memorial Boulevard.

Miss Warren’s family told investigators the victim traveled often and was known to hitchhike.

Her family last heard from her the day before her body was discovered when she called family members to tell them she was coming to Killeen from California.

Witnesses reported seeing a shiny black newer model truck tractor with a sleeper pulling a white box-type trailer parked near the area where her body was found.

Although Paula’s attacker was never found, her family believes she had been a victim of a serial killer trucker who murdered dozens of young girls between Ohio and Texas.

Robert Ben Rhoades, a.k.a. the Truck Stop Killer, was actually one of the most dangerous sex offenders and serial killers in American history. Though Robert Ben Rhoades is behind bars for three murders, authorities believe that the Truck Stop Killer may have killed about 50 women while out on the road. Could Paula have been one of his victims?

Over the past 30 years the FBI has identified several truck driver serial killers.

04/06/09 The FBI issued a new initiative Highway Serial Killings initiative to raise awareness among law enforcement agencies and the general public about this issue and the FBI’s unique assistance on these cases.

ViCAP, part of the FBI National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime and a national repository for violent crimes. The database—which contains information on homicides, sexual assaults, missing persons, and unidentified human remains—is available to law enforcement throughout the country.

ViCAP analysts have created a national matrix of more than 500 murder victims from along or near highways, as well as a list of some 200 potential suspects. Names of suspects—contributed by law enforcement agencies—are examined by analysts who develop timelines using a variety of reliable sources of information.

If you have any information about the murder of Paula Warren please contact the Bell County Crime Stoppers at 254-526-TIPS (8477).
