Yorrick Toms
December 20, 2018
At the age of 24, Yorrick Toms was shot and killed at an apartment complex at Westcliff Road in Killeen, where Yorrick lived.
Yorrick leaves behind a 1-year-old daughter.
Yorrick's mother, Renee Michaels, his father Charles Toms and stepmother Rhonda Toms, want answers on what happened to their son. He had moved from Virgina to Killeen to be closer to his mother Renee, he had goals he wanted to achieve to make a better life for his family.
Yorrick moved to Killeen in the summer of 2018, then moved to the apartment complex in October, he had also been working 2 and sometimes 3 jobs in the short time he lived in Killeen. He had only lived at the apartment complex for 2 months before he was murdered.
The police were responding to a burglary call when they found Yorrick suffering from a gunshot wound in the doorway of an apartment. Yorrick's family believed the apartment was vacant, but police disagreed and said it was occupied.
KPD believed Yorrick broke into the apartment with intent to burglarize.
Yorrick's family strongly disagreed and fought to keep Yorrick's case open, as a murder investigation.
According to Yorrick's family, residents heard gun shots at least 1 hour prior to KPD's arrival.
Oddly when Renee was cleaning out Yorrick's apartment she realized some items missing. His jacket and shoes.
When Yorrick was found, he was not wearing a jacket or shoes.
The two individuals who lived in the apartment that claimed Yorrick broke in were arrested for a homicide they committed and are currently in prison.
If anyone lived in the area during that time and may have information, please contact KPD.
All we ask for is justice for Yorrick Toms family.
