Murdered in killeen

A man found dead near downtown Killeen has been identified as 19-year-old Justin Lewis.

Lewis was found dead by police in an empty lot in the 700 block of West Avenue C around 11:20 Monday night. Police were sent to the area in reference to a shots-fired call.

An initial autopsy report from the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Science at Dallas, states that the cause of death was a gunshot wound, and the manner of death was a homicide.

Lewis’ death is being investigated as the ninth homicide this year in Killeen. He is the fifth victim under the age of 23 this year.
